Jason Isbell Kansas City Concert reviews
Jason Isbell, please come back to Oakland soon!
What a perfect opener, Damien Jurado. His style is so different from isbell that I almost thought it was an opening for Band of Horses. By the time Isbell came onto the stage I was pretty amped and ready to hear that first song. The sound from the balcony was great despite being so high up. The seats are a little cramped at the knees but once you get into the music that's easy to get over. Actually I shouldn't even mention it, cause the music was just about flawless. I don't know why, but seeing a country artist perform in Oakland is kind of crazy of itself, and though the crowd was into it, it wasn't a tidal wave of welcoming energy on our part. Maybe we didn't know enough songs but something seemed a little out of sync with the perfection of dynamics and explosive energy in the music and the crowd energy. regardless I was thoroughly blown away, caught off guard even with his performance of Cover Me Up, Flying Over Water, and Different Days. I intend to come to the next concert with friends armed with lyrics memorized, and a bit more noise. I'm glad they came back for the encore but next time we have to give them a bit more energy, They sure put out a lot for a 5 piece band.
